A New Year in New York
Ok, so I'm back in New York. I swear, I've only been here for less than 2 weeks and I've already seen some "Only in New York" type stuff. It's hilarious actually. The other day I saw a homeless man yelling across the road at a little boy who was about 5 years old...he was smiling and trying to play with him or something from a distance. The boy looked like he was either ready to burst out in tears, or shit his pants.
I also was walking by my beloved Biddy Early's bar, when I see a girl about 21 sitting on the bench outside, half slouched and looking like she was a bit too intoxicated for her own good. She was wearing a shirt that said "I'm going to be somebody." Haha, I laughed at the irony.
I also was walking along the street last week, when multiple men were "hooting and hollering" at me. It was as if they had never seen a female in their lives. I mean, yes I took a little extra time to look decent that day, but the amount of sexual harrassment one receives in Manhattan, surpasses that of maybe 4 midwestern states combined. While it is somewhat flattering, it is also flat out annoying. That is why I like to put my ipod on. I drown out all the perverts as I walk swiftly keeping my mind on other things.
So I started school...so far, so good. I better pass this damn math course, if I don't - I don't graduate, and it will send my GPA plummeting, like the last math course did. I have two teachers whom I love this semester. One talks about how she knows that if a guy is on his computer in class and smiling, that they couldn't quite possibly be that happy about the subject of Business Law, but are most likely looking at porn throughout the classtime. Another says the word "shit" about 12 times during our class. Friggen hilarious. Oh the joys of referring to RateMyProfessor.com to find the best professors at your University. It is a student's dream!
It's raining out today...and outside my window I can hear an influx of car horns...that's Manhattan for you.
Love being back.
